What it is for
Treats syphilis and prevents rheumatic fever from coming back.
How to take it
It is given as a deep injection into the buttock by a health worker.
When to take it
Given as a single dose or at regular intervals, as your doctor says. Return on time.

- Missing your injection dates.
- Tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin.

Possible side effects
Pain at the injection site, mild fever.

Rash, swelling of the face or lips, or trouble breathing: get emergency help. Severe pain, numbness or colour change in the limb: get urgent help.
