Molnupiravir: how to take it safely

What it is for
Treats mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults at risk of becoming seriously ill.
How to take it
- Prescription medicine: take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist told you.
- Swallow the capsules whole with water.
- Start within 5 days of the first symptoms.
When to take it
Take it every 12 hours for 5 days.
Take it with
With or without food.
What to avoid
- Pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby. Use contraception during treatment and afterwards.
- Stopping early.
- Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
Possible side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, dizziness, headache.

Worsening breathlessness, chest pain, confusion or blue lips: get emergency help.
